| About Helen C. Iaea | | Helen began her art career working in oils and taught the Gloria Foss Color Course in oil painting for five years. Her focus shifted to acrylics and pastels, eventually adding watercolor. She is an honorary life and signature member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society. Helen served as president, vice president and show chair. She helped run the HWS workshop program for 13 years. During this time, she helped to bring nationally recognized artists to Hawaii to give workshops and jury the HWS show
In 2001, Helen was instrumental in forming the Pastel Artists of Hawaii, a nonprofit group dedicated to the advancement and awareness of soft pastels and is a signature member.
Her works may be seen at Sunshine Arts Gallery and Cedar Street Gallery. She has won numerous awards including Best in Show and was a featured artist in the Yearbook 2001 issue of "Watercolor Magic," in the article "Ones to Watch" and "Best of Drawing 2, Light & Shadow" by North Light Books available October 2009.
Helen offers classes in watercolor at Hawaiian Graphics Art Store and pastel classes at the Academy Art Center at Linekona, and on location painting at various locations on Oahu.
